School Spam

Twice in the last week I've received email messages from parents at my children's school, in which they've used email lists intended to communicate important information about school events to advertise their own personal business interests. I find this practice so inappropriate! I open email from other parents expecting to find something useful, but instead find junk about the "liver cleansing" product they are selling or the sales promotion their company is holding. In both cases, the messages were completely off-target and prefaced by half-hearted copy about how they expected that other parents might find this useful. What are they thinking?
