Mom's Visit

My mom turns 90 tomorrow - quite an accomplishment!  And then on Thursday, she's taking the train down to see us.  Here is what I'm thinking for our schedule:

afternoon arrival
dinner celebration: chicken waldorf salad, bread and butter, Kendall Jackson chardonnay, chocolate layer cake
birthday gift: FD chocolates

see Women's Work exhibit at the National Academy Museum
lunch at the Heavenly Rest Stop
afternoon activity: walk to the Conservatory Garden
dinner: bacon cheeseburgers w/rolls, peas, blueberries, leftover cake

1 pm baseball game
late afternoon activity: Edouard Vuillard exhibit at the Jewish Museum (open until 5:45; free on Saturdays)

Dinner: pesto pasta, baby carrots, sliced strawberries, brownies

breakfast: bagels w/strawberry cream cheese

11 am church service
brunch: Stargate Diner

afternoon activity: walk to Gracie Mansion
Dinner: Chinese

morning visit to Museum of the City of New York
afternoon departure

I had thought that maybe we'd see the Potted Potter show since Mom enjoyed the Harry Potter books as much as the boys and I did, but alas it is sold out for the days she'll be here (perhaps in part because of the great review it received in the NY Times today).

Other things to consider: play some wii fit (get her to try the dancing!), board games, Neue Gallery, or maybe also stop at Tiny Doll House (314 East 78th Street, near 2nd Ave, 212-744-3719).
