Fall Fashion Trends 2013

According to Neiman Marcus:
  • Violet Femmes (2 pairs purple pointy heels, Beirn clutch, purple tweed pencil skirt, dark purple silk tank and sweater)
  • Rocker Chic (studded smoking slippers, skull necklace)
  • Red: The New Neutral (3 red cardigans, red suede wedge heels, red silk tank, red mockneck - maybe under leopard jacket, red leather tote, red/black print silk knit dress, red suede belt)
  • Animal Magnetism (leopard pencil skirt, swing jacket and duster; leopard crewneck, leopard pumps, leopard haircalf clutch, leopard kiss-lock purse, 2 leopard print belts, dalmation pumps, dalmation, flats, zebra pumps, zebra structured purse, zebra dress)
  • Boys Town (black suit, windowpane pants, black smoking slippers)
  • The Pointed Toe (lots of what I own - yay!)
  • Lace Noir (black lace skirt)
  • Scaled-down Handbags
  • Multifaceted Necklaces (mixed media statement necklace, faceted emerald necklace)
According to Fashionologie:
  • Rounded shoulders (teal jacket)
  • Pink (silk shell, ruffled pumps)
  • Ostrich (!)
  • Furry (fur tipped sweater, fur scarf, fur handbag)
  • Grunge (nope; hated it the first time around, too!)
  • Plaid (wool jacket)
  • Navy (slingbacks, ruffled shell, wool coat)
  • Embellished sweaters (lots)
According to Harper's Bazaar (pre-Fall):
  • Midi skirt (no -I'm short and it'll make me look frumpy)
  • Cable knit sweater (trying to stick with thinner knits to avoid extra bulk)
  • Dropped waist LBD (I do have a full-skirted knit LBD, but will avoid dropped waist styles)
  • Gray (sweaters, dresses, pants)
  • Leather moto jacket (still looking)
  • Updated white T (always on my list!)
  • Printed, pleated drop waist dress (see note above)
  • White dress (no, I'm not even sure I buy into the white-for-fall idea enough to keep wearing white jeans)
  • Black & white (always love it!)
And Harper's Bazaar's 10 Key Pieces:
  • The womanly skirt (curvy and calf-length)
  • The rounded-shouldered jacket
  • The sleek sheath (long sleeved, with a slim torso and relaxed skirt)
  • Belts (thin or wide, a belt helps reign in the volume in this fall's clothes)
  • The Aran knit (like a slouchy fisherman's sweater)
  • A slightly wider pant (pleats are back!)
  • Ankle boot with a block heel
  • The red coat (voluminous and long)
  • The top handle bag (often in white)
  • Gray and navy (as a subtle combo)
